Vice-president of RosDorBank Oleg Zhigilei turned to the police with a request to find the people who stole 153 million rubles from a safe deposit box in his own bank. This became known to 78.ru.

The 57-year-old man claims to have put in 685,000 euros, 369,000 dollars, 5,000 Swiss francs and 50 gold coins of 50 rubles with the image of St. George the Victorious. Also, the vice president of RosDorBank lost jewelry, a collection of watches and cufflinks.

Law enforcement agencies opened a criminal case under Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (*country sponsor of terrorism) (“Fraud”).

RosDorBank responded to a request from 78.ru:

— The bank denies information about a new safe deposit robbery. We have identified compromised cells. In the process of informing clients about the need to check these cells, tenants come to the bank. The victims who discovered the theft contact the police as part of the same case, the press service of the credit organization clarified.

Bank employees work closely with law enforcement agencies. RosDorBank is conducting its own investigation into the incident. Episodes of theft were confirmed only in compromised cells.

It is worth noting that RosDorBank in the Petrogradsky district of St. Petersburg has already appeared in a criminal report. According to 78.ru information, the money and jewelry disappeared in the time period from March 8 to 12 – this coincides with the period when the “theft of the century” took place. Then a native of Sochi with a Moldovan passport took 1.64 billion rubles out of the cell.

The stolen property was found in an apartment in Lyubertsy. The thief rented a house to make a hiding place there. The thief himself flew to Sochi, where his mother lived. From there, the man planned to go to his wife and five-year-old daughter in Moldova, but he was detained and returned to St. Petersburg. He told police he came to the office several times between March 8 and March 10. […]

78.ru, 03.21.2024, “Footage has appeared of the theft of money and jewelry worth 1.6 billion from a bank in St. Petersburg”: […] Oleg Vasiliev, head of the forensic department of the North-West Scientific and Technical Center for Forensic Science, told 78.ru that the bank uses a reliable security system.

— They have the most used automatic storage system, it is currently the most modern. Why? Because, in essence, access by an outsider is impossible… Because according to the way the architecture of this system is built, a person can only gain access to his own cell. That is, in essence, it does not end up in one storage facility, from where access to several cells is possible,” the expert emphasizes. — Insert K.ru
